Doing Good

December 20th, 2011

This year for the first time my family helped others, other families that could not afford toys for their kids or even food. This was called Operation Santa Claus and it was run by our local Fire Department. The Mayor’s wife got us into this, their kid is in the same class as ours. Companies donated toys and groceries while other volunteers packed the bags. We came in at the end to do the fun part, delivering them to the families.  The toys were packed

in big garbage bags marked with addresses. An entire line of cars passed through the Fire Station and the trunks were loaded with as many bags of gifts and groceries as they could hold. We then drove to our assigned families and said “Merry Christmas, we’re from Operation Santa Claus” and gave them their bags.

This has been going on for five years now and I never knew about it. I don’t know if this is going on in other cities but if it is it would do your heart some good to check it out. And if there isn’t then maybe it’s time to start one.
